We had a lovely family meal in the bistro. The staff were friendly and very helpful. The food was great and not overpriced and the room was nice and cool on a very hot day. Will definitely visit again.
First time visitor, had my mums 90th birthday lunch on Saturday 17th February. Great old pub with excellent food and all the staff were very friendly. Bistro staff were fantastic accommodating us. I’ll be back for sure!
This place can’t be faulted.
From the incredible staff, to the beautiful atmosphere and the food… oh the food!
We recently went to dinner with 10 of us 7 adults and 3 children. The staff were so attentive to our children constantly interacting with them and making us feel like we were just at another relatives house. I don’t think I ever caught a moment where a staff member wasn’t smiling or interacting kindly with the customers. The food is incredible there’s just nothing more to say! There meals are just made with love!
Would recommend to anyone and everyone I possibly can! From a date night to a family reunion. This place will exceed your expectations.
We can’t wait to return 🤍
We truly enjoyed our dinner at this Inn a few weeks back! Whilst we didn’t stay there we enjoyed the beer garden, vibes, meals and excellent staff (huge shout out to Kerryn!!! She was amazing, funny & has excellent customer service. Thank you! We’ll be back sometime.
Cute place with potential, but the staff were rude and dismissive, although they were notably stressed
We had an unfortunate hour long wait without notice for sandwiches, which honestly wouldn't have been an issue if we were told before we ordered.
Prices were steep but beer was mostly decent for a country pub
Overall 4 stars mainly because it is very dog-friendly and has outdoor tables with proper shade, the drinks were super cold which was welcome on a hot day, the staff are very friendly and it is in the middle of town. The food is also not too bad. I put 3 stars for rooms but I didn't actually stay at the Surveyor General Inn. Our family had lunch at the bistrot yesterday (Australia Day). There was a parade in town and the place was heaving. The staff were super friendly even thought it was an extremely hot day and they had to deal with a slow EFTPOS machine and hundreds of people. The wait time for our food was one hour but we were told this at the time we ordered so that was fine. I reserved a table outside at one of the picnic type tables, and luckily it was fully covered as the Inn has a very large verandah. There was a full dog water bowl somewhere along the row of outside tables. One has to order food in a separate line from where drinks are ordered from. There was lots of ice available at the bar. There was also free self-help water available. The food queue seemed to sort itself out but the bar was a bit chaotic. Perhaps some sort of divider like in a bank so people know to queue there. Or neon sticky tape with crosses and arrows so people know where to queue. The food was typical pub food. If you don't expect too much you won't be disappointed. It wasn't gastro pub level but it also wasn't inedible. I was hungry and the chips were crispy (everything comes with chips!). The fish and chips are pretty good. The batter was crispy. The chicken schnitzel was a bit orange but not too dry. The steak sandwich was pretty good too. I can't complain about anything in particular, but it also wasn't next level. The bread was well fried, the steak wasn't too chewy. One has to pay for sauces and we couldn't find any ketchup. It was so busy we just ate whatever came. They forgot to bring out the sticky date pudding. We asked and they said they took it out already. Maybe someone got a free sticky date pudding. The staff replaced it and it came out very quickly. The vanilla ice-cream was good. The sticky date pudding was microwaved and was extremely hot. I probably wouldn't order it again as it was overly sweet. I would return as Berrima is a nice town to spend a few hours in and the people were really friendly at this place.
Service is wonderful from the lovely lady at the counter, she’s such a bright light and spirit as always but the food is not that great, especially with what you spend, was quite disappointed with the really long wait with hardly any people here, the $8 plate of 3 tiny pickles (waste of money) and the staff who took my plate without letting me finish, I’m deaf and had no idea they were going to take it as I didn’t hear what she had said.
We love visiting but this visit for my partners birthday, wasn’t as special as last time.
Disappointing experience this evening. The pub was quiet and pleasant initially. However, we waited 40mins for meals when the pub was, as mentioned, quiet. The moment our meals arrived the kitchen staff lost all professionalism, turning very loud and obnoxious while cleaning up. A few minutes after our meals arriving the floor was swept around us making us feel unwelcome. We rushed our meals and left and won’t be back. The steak sandwich was decent but overpriced, but the $48 wagu steak was on par with a $20 steak elsewhere. Don’t recommend.
